3rd Grade Koi Fish: 3rd graders learned about the history of Koi Fish through a Power Point presentation. We focused on neatness in drawing, tracing on original pencil, and controlling our paint/paintbrush when painting.
4th Grade Patterned Still Life: 4th graders learned about modern folk artist Heather Galler through a short Power Point and looked at several examples of her artwork. Students reviewed pattern and use of horizon line in artwork. Students drew a coffee cup four times. In each section students were to include 4 different patterns for each part of the drawing: foreground, background, coffee cup, and saucer. Students used marker to color in.
5th Grade Patterned Landscapes: 5th grade students also learned about modern folk artist Heather Galler through a Power Point presentation and looked at several examples of her artwork. Students were to start drawing by creating a horizon line. In the foreground, divide the area into at least 7 sections and each section was to have a pattern using line or shape. Above the horizon line students were to add a house/barn and at least one tree. Students outlined entire drawing in Sharpie, colored in only the shapes with construction paper crayon, and then the rest was painted with water color.
